What is Fluorspar?
Fluorspar, also known as fluorite (chemical formula: CaF₂), is a naturally occurring mineral composed of calcium and fluorine. Its name comes from the Latin word “fluere” meaning “to flow”, because of its historical use as a flux in metallurgical processes. Today, fluorspar is a critical industrial raw material used across steel, aluminium, chemical, cement, ceramic, glass, and welding industries.
At Parijat Minerals Pvt. Ltd., we specialize in sourcing, processing, and supplying high-quality fluorspar tailored to customer requirements in India and international markets.

Industrial Applications of Fluorspar
1. Hydrofluoric Acid Industry
Acid-grade fluorspar is the main raw material for producing hydrofluoric acid (HF). HF is widely used in:
Manufacturing aluminum fluoride and synthetic cryolite (essential for aluminium smelting).
Production of refrigerant gases and fluorochemicals.
High-octane fuel additives, glass etching, and electroplating.
2. Metallurgical Industry
In steelmaking, fluorspar acts as a flux to lower slag melting temperature, improving desulfurization and dephosphorization. Typical consumption is 2–10 kg per ton of steel. It is also used in aluminum production, iron foundries, and ferroalloy manufacturing.
3. Cement Industry
Fluorspar is added during clinker production to reduce kiln temperature, save energy, and produce a softer clinker that is easier to grind—resulting in reduced power consumption.
4. Glass & Ceramics
Fluorspar improves the opacity and quality of glass products. It is used in flint glass, opal glass, milk bottles, tiles, and sanitary ware glazes. Ceramic-grade fluorspar is also used in making enamel coatings and specialty ceramics.
5. Welding Electrodes
Calcium fluoride in welding electrode coatings improves weld toughness, reduces cracking, and ensures slag fluidity—producing stronger and cleaner welds.
Grades of Fluorspar We Supply
Acid Grade (≥97% CaF₂) – For hydrofluoric acid and chemical industries.
Ceramic Grade (95%+ CaF₂) – For glass, ceramics, and enamel.
Metallurgical Grade (60–85% effective CaF₂) – For steelmaking, foundries, and ferroalloys.
Fluorspar Briquettes (65–95% CaF₂) – Manufactured with controlled silica and lime content for consistent quality in steel plants.
